Brandon Marsh started of the 2025 Season in a way that no professional baseball player ever wants to struggle. And it was made even worse when he injured is knee coming in towards a ball in center field against the Giants on April 16th.

That knee injury ended up being the best thing to happen for Marsh because since he returned from the injury on May 3rd, he has hit .337, with 34 hits, a homer, 11 RBI, 17 runs, in 39 games.

With Kepler and Kemp platooning in Left Field the Phillies could decide whether they want to try to trade their prospects for 2 outfielders or keep Marsh, Kemp, and Kepler and trade less away for 2-4 bullpen arms.

As the Phillies continue to push for what could be the final chance for a World Series victory for a while, the question for many fans has become “do they go all in and trade a majority of their top prospects or keep them and risk not winning a World Series” and many fans are asking this question because it took the Phillies over a decade to get their farm system as good as it currently is.

Now that Brandon Marsh is no longer struggling and has consistently hit for the last month and a half, the Phillies could certainly decide that they don’t need to trade their top prospects for outfielders. And trade fewer top prospects and more 10-30 prospects who aren’t as talented at the moment.

The Phillies keeping a good amount of their top prospects would mean it would take less time to rebuild after this year unlike the early 2000s when they traded 75% of their top prospects to try and get a 2nd World Series after 2008, which didn’t work out and put the Phillies in a long and grueling rebuild process which went from 2012 all the way to 2022 when they made the playoffs and the World Series but ended up losing.

The worry of another possible long term rebuild is why many fans feel uncomfortable about letting go of prospects like Painter, Miller, Crawford, and more.

If the Phillies end up having a great deadline without dealing their top prospects and then winning the World Series, fans could thank Brandon marsh for his resurgence

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
